This course is for young people aged 11-16 who would like to try skating, or who are learning and want some help.

Tuition for ages 11-16

This course is for young people aged 11-16 who would like to try skating, or who are learning and want some help.
Whether you’ve never stepped on a board or are still learning the basics, two of our coaches will help everyone individually and as a group to progress and gain confidence skating.

Learn in a casual environment and meet new people to skate with!

What will we learn?
  • Coaching will be tailored to every individual’s needs and ability level. If you’re brand new to skating we’ll take you through all the basics of skating, using ramps and basic moves. If you’ve already learned a bit we can help you improve what you can do and learn more.
  • We’ll teach you how to be confident and comfortable on a board and in a skatepark. Skating in busy spaces can be intimidating, we’ll help you know what to do and feel ready to join in anywhere.
What we expect

This course is for young people looking to learn to skate or gain confidence in their skating. Please only attend if you feel you will benefit from the more in-depth coaching on offer. If you’re comfortable attending open sessions and public parks then the course is likely not suitable. Staff are always on hand to help with learning new tricks at all our open sessions when asked.

Further Schedule & Booking Details
  • Booking Windows: Courses begin after every school half-term break. Spaces typically open for online booking three weeks beforehand, with upcoming start and release dates always posted on this page.
  • No Waiting Lists: Places are filled strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not accept early bookings or maintain waiting lists.
  • High Demand: Courses sell out quickly. If no spaces are visible online, they are completely sold out. Because each registration must be completed individually, we cannot guarantee you will be able to book for multiple children. We strongly advise against promising lessons to children before a booking is confirmed.
  • Priority Booking: Participants from the previous course receive a one-day priority window via email to rebook. Please whitelist skatepark@brightonyouthcentre.org.uk to ensure you receive this notification.
  • Pre-Filled Spaces: Due to the priority booking system for existing members, some course spaces will already be taken before they go live to the public.
  • Holiday Courses: We occasionally run separate courses during school holidays. These are announced on this page a few weeks in advance.
Refund Policy
  • Cancellations (7+ Days Notice): A full refund will be issued if you contact us by phone or email at least 7 days before the course start date.
  • Cancellations (Less than 7 Days Notice): If you cancel with less than 7 days’ notice, a 50% refund will be issued to cover potential loss of earnings.
  • No Refunds: Requests made on or after the date of the first lesson will not be honored. All approved refunds are processed via bank transfer, and we will request your account details to arrange this.
  • Missed Lessons: BYC is not responsible for unattended sessions. We do not issue partial refunds, discounts, or complimentary future lessons for missed classes.
  • Booking Mistakes: While we will try to assist you, we accept no responsibility for bookings made on the wrong course date and cannot guarantee that changes can be made.
